What is Selfie Recheck?

Selfie Recheck is a facial capture check triggered when automated systems detect suspicious activity on a verified account. The scan confirms that the individual operating the profile matches the biometric data recorded during the initial account verification.

The process requires a face scan using a smartphone camera to verify identity against the original data log.

How to complete a Selfie Recheck

The process utilizes the identical facial capture interface as your initial verification, but it does not require you to upload an identification document. When your account is flagged for a Selfie Recheck, a notification updates on your profile and an interface block displays if you attempt to enter a matchmaking queue.

 

To begin the recheck process, click on this notification or head to your Verification Settings and click on START RECHECK.

Next, scan the QR code that pops up with your mobile device.

This will open Daon’s web page on your phone. Here, you will need to take a photo of yourself. If you are having issues completing this stage, remove glasses, hats, or headsets if you are wearing any. We recommend that you maintain a neutral facial expression, identical to the image on your identification document.

Once completed, if the automated system verifies that the new face scan matches your initial verification data, your account status updates and matchmaking access is restored.

What if my recheck fails?

If your submission returns an error, you have 5 automated attempts to pass the Selfie Recheck.

Common reasons for failure:

  • Poor lighting conditions

  • Face features partially obscured by glasses, headsets, or hats

  • Not looking directly at the camera lens

  • Significant structural variations in appearance since your original verification

Before retrying:

  • Move to a well-lit space

  • Remove items covering your face

  • Ensure you are the individual who completed the original account verification

If you fail all 5 attempts, your account verification status is revoked. This results in the following profile restrictions:

  • You cannot access verified-only platform features.

  • You cannot play in Premium Matches or Verified-Only queues.

  • Your account remains restricted until you open a support ticket for manual review.

How long do I have to do my recheck?

There is no expiration timer forcing immediate completion. However, your account status is suspended and you are locked out of all matchmaking queues until you complete the Selfie Recheck successfully.

Common Issues

"Face Recheck Challenge Has Expired"

The interface session has timed out. Refresh your browser page to generate a new QR code and start a new face recheck attempt.

"No Motion Sensors Access"

The mobile browser cannot access your device's hardware sensors or the hardware lacks compatible orientation modules. Check your mobile browser permission settings to enable sensor access, or complete the process using a alternative smartphone. You can use a borrowed device, but you must personally complete the facial capture step.

"An Active Challenge Already Exists"

A verification session is already processing in another window or device. Complete that active face recheck or wait for the session window to expire before requesting a new QR code.

"User Has Already Completed the Face Recheck Challenge"

The face recheck has already processed successfully. Refresh your desktop browser page to update your account status and restore your verification privileges.

"User Has No Face Recheck Attempts Left"

You have exhausted all 5 attempts. Your verification status remains revoked. Open a support ticket if you require a manual identity review.

QR Code Not Appearing

If the QR code fails to load on the desktop interface, deactivate active script blockers or attempt the process using a alternative web browser.

The face recheck utilizes the secure encryption infrastructure built for the initial platform verification process. Your face capture is transmitted to and processed by Daon, the platform's secure verification partner, to run the comparative analysis against your original profile logs.

  • Your face recheck data is processed and stored inside Daon's European data centers.

  • The FACEIT database only records a binary confirmation indicating whether the account passed or failed the check.

  • No additional personal documentation or metadata is collected during the face scan.

  • All data transfers use end-to-end encryption compliant with advanced security measures.
