How do I release verification from an account?

The only way to release verification from an account is to delete the account. Once the account is deleted, a 6-month waiting period applies before you can verify another account. You can find the guide on how to delete an account here.

Daon's website informed me the process was completed, why did my verification fail?

The confirmation on Daon's website means your documents were successfully received by the processor. It does not mean the verification passed. The final platform status updates once the automated validation checks process the submission.

Why the FACEIT ID verification system?

Verification reduces smurfing, boosting services, and multi-account abuse by linking one physical identity to a single platform account. This creates a technical barrier to ensure stats, rankings, and match achievements are earned on a single primary profile. While these standards are difficult to maintain across matchmaking and esports tournaments, verification allows the platform to enforce account accountability directly.

What is the FACEIT ID verification system?

FACEIT ID verification is a free, optional feature. To process identity verification, FACEIT uses software from Daon, an identity verification provider. The system matches your government-issued documentation with a facial capture to verify ownership of the account.

The verification process requires four steps:

  1. Scan the provided QR code with a smartphone.

  2. Complete a facial capture.

  3. Scan a supported identification document.

  4. Submit the files for processing.

How will FACEIT ID verification affect my experience on FACEIT and ESEA League?

There are three key components to how this system updates your experience:

  • Account Status: Completing the 4-step smartphone verification process adds a verification badge to your profile and increases your profile visibility in search, discovery, and platform social features.

  • Competition Access: In the future, verified status will be required to enter specific competitions, including official open qualifiers and tournaments.

  • Enforced Verification: Accounts flagged for multi-account patterns, boosting data points, or black market transfer activity will be locked from accessing FACEIT services until they complete identity verification.

How do I verify my account?

To verify your account, go to your FACEIT account settings, open the verification page, and complete the steps using a smartphone. A full guide is available here.

The process requires these steps:

  1. Open the verification tab in your settings.

  2. Select the country that matches your identity document.

  3. Complete the facial capture check using a selfie.

  4. Scan your document ID.

  5. Submit the files.

Is the FACEIT ID Verification system mandatory?

FACEIT ID Verification is currently mandatory for players competing in selected groups (Advanced). It may be required for all groups of the ESEA League in future seasons.

Where is my data going to be stored?

Your identity documentation and biometric data are processed and stored inside Daon's European data centers. The FACEIT database only stores a binary indicator confirming whether your account status is verified or unverified. None of your underlying document or biometric data is stored on FACEIT. Why are you asking for my documents and a photo?

The document scan and face capture verify that a real person is operating the profile and that it is their primary account. This check provides an additional layer of security to prevent identity theft, fake accounts, and platform fraud.

Note: Before starting the verification process, ensure the country selected in the menu matches the country issued on your verification document.

What stops me from deleting my account and verification and making a new one to verify myself again (smurf)?

FACEIT does not store or process your identity documentation. This data is managed by Daon inside their European data centers. When you delete a FACEIT account, a data retention period applies where an anonymized, encrypted hash of the verification data is held. This prevents a new account from being verified with those same identification documents during the retention window. To clear your verification data from the processor, you must delete your account.

What information do I need to provide for identity verification?

You must provide a photo of a government-issued identification document, such as a passport, driver’s license, or national ID, along with a live photo capture.

Can I verify more than one account?

No. You can only verify one FACEIT account.

I’m under 18 years of age! How do I verify?

Underage players can complete the verification process. Review the Underage FAQ [Link] for specific age requirements and regional validation rules.

Will I need to re-verify my identity in the future?

You may be prompted to complete a face capture check in the future if the platform's automated systems flag your account for suspicious activity.

What happens if someone hacks my account and my account is verified?

If a verified account is compromised, open a ticket with Customer Support. The support team will investigate the account logs and use the verification data to confirm ownership and restore your access.

What is the difference between the gold verification badge and the white one?

  • White Verification Badge: Automatically awarded to all profiles that successfully complete the identity verification process.

  • Golden Verification Badge: Manually assigned to professional players, content creators, and community leaders to protect their profiles from impersonation.

What is the impact of changing my gamertag or nickname on my verification status?

Good news! Changing your gamertag or nickname will not affect your verification status in any way. You can rest assured that your verification will remain valid and intact regardless of any alterations you make to your username.
