What's ESEA Elite?

Elite - A New Way To Qualify For ESL Challenger League

Below is the Elite structure qualifying you for the ESL Challenger League for Europe and North America through a new Tier 2 Event Format. If HLTV.org covers these matches, for example in the playoffs, Elite can award VRS Points twice per season because it meets the requirements for a Ranked Event.

  • Step 1: Qualifiers - Join the qualifiers starting in both Europe and North America on October 11th. Your team's seed will be decided by any VRS points you have, followed by your ESEA League performance in Season 55 if you don’t have any.
  • Step 2: Group Stage - The best 8 teams from each qualifier will advance to a 16-team, 4-group stage with best-of-three matches. These matches will take place alongside any ESEA League officials and will not conflict with each other so teams can participate in both.
  • Step 3: Playoffs - The top 2 teams from each group will enter an 8-team playoff.
  • Step 4: Promotion - The 2 best teams from the final bracket will qualify for ESL Challenger League and earn their share of $10,000 per season globally. To be clear, the following Elites will qualify to ESL Challenger League in the following format: Season 54 Elite 1 qualifies to ECL Season 51 Cup 1 Season 54 Elite 2 qualifies to ECL Season 51 Cup 1 Season 55 Elite 1 qualifies to ECL Season 51 Cup 1 Season 55 Elite 2 qualifies to ECL Season 51 Cup 1

ESEA Elite Specific Rules

  • Elite will feature either one or two fully open best-of-one qualifiers with best-of-three deciders. The top 16 teams from that qualifier will advance to Elite. In the event that a region needs two qualifiers, the top 8 teams from each qualifier will advance to Elite.
    • Elite division format:
      • Four GSL groups containing 4 teams.
      • Groups are seeded by VRS and then ESEA League Standings (or divisions).
      • Eight teams to playoffs.
      • Playoffs are seeded by VRS (group winners will compete against group runner-ups).
      • All matches are best-of-three.
      • Two finalists will advance to the next possible season of ECL Challenger League.
  • Elite will require full player verification in order to compete. Exceptions to this will not be made, so please be sure to take of verification before competing.
  • A discord is available to teams who qualify for Elite so players and staff can be in direct communication.
  • Elite will follow all ESL Pro Tour rules and ESIC rulebooks.
  • All rosters for Elite must be identical to the roster you are using in the default ESEA divisions, if you are competing in both. Individuals are not allowed to play with different teams if they are playing in Open-Advanced and Elite.
  • ESEA League pass is required to compete.

In the event your team is competing in a qualifier that overlaps a default league date, reach out to ESEA staff via support ticket and we will force-reschedule your League match so you can freely compete in the qualifier.
