Human Input Detection FAQ

What is Human Input Detection?

Human Input Detection is a new machine-learning layer of the FACEIT Anti-Cheat that detects cheaters by their in-game actions, not by the software they use. It will be ready on August 05, 2026, to go live with Season 9.

How does it work?

It's trained to tell human play apart from machine input, learning continually from FACEIT matches and the highest-ranked players in CS. When it sees play that no human could realistically produce, it flags it. And because it judges how you play rather than the software behind it, it can catch cheats it has never seen before.

What does it add to the FACEIT Anti-Cheat?

Our kernel-level Anti-Cheat already catches a wide range of cheats, including AI and DMA, which accounted for 40% of the cheating bans in May, 2026. Human Input Detection works alongside those protections, widening coverage to the hardest cases: cheats built to be subtle and brand-new methods. In testing, it proved especially effective against AI cheats, one of the biggest rising threats in competitive gaming.

What happens during a match?

It runs within the FACEIT Anti-Cheat and reads your in-game inputs in real time, from the start of the match to the end. If input looks impossible for a human, it's flagged, and the data is always weighed alongside other Anti-Cheat signals before any action is taken.

Will a player be banned the instant something is flagged?

No. Human Input Detection acts as another signal our integrity systems weigh alongside other FACEIT Anti-Cheat inputs, to ensure the highest confidence before confirming a ban. We also don't always act the instant a cheat is confirmed: holding back lets us take down multiple accounts at once, before the cheat developer can warn their clients.

I use accessibility hardware or a non-standard controller. Will it flag me?

No. Legitimate hardware, including accessibility devices, is part of what it learns as human play. Anything unusual is weighed against other signals, never judged on its own.

Do you collect any private data, or anything from outside the game?

No. It only reads the in-game inputs it needs to judge your play. That data is encrypted, limited to the game window, and nothing is recorded once you leave the game.

Do I need to install or enable anything? Does it affect performance?

No. When it goes live on August 5 with Season 9, Human Input Detection runs within the FACEIT Anti-Cheat you already have. There is nothing to install, nothing to enable, and no noticeable impact on your FPS or performance.
