Commendations are a way to give credit to the players who made your match more enjoyable. After a game ends, you can commend players from the match page. The most commended players are displayed at the top of the match, and you receive a notification each time you are commended. Commendations arrive with Season 9 on August 05.
Who can I commend?
Both teammates and opponents can commend each other if there was someone you particularly enjoyed playing with.
Where do my commendations show?
Commendations are displayed on the match page so you can see those in the game who others most enjoyed playing with. If this feature is popular, we can roll this out wider to profiles, leaderboards, or other sections of the website, depending on feedback.
Can I exchange commendations for anything?
Today, commendations show your appreciation and let other players know you enjoyed your time with them. If players like commendations and feel the system helps shape positive behaviour, we can look to expand this further with additional incentives, leaderboards, a profile section, or other changes.
Can I see who commended me?
Yes, you can see which player commended you in the notification you receive and on the match page.
Do commendations affect matchmaking, Elo, or if I get banned?
No. Commendations are recognition between players and today do not affect matchmaking, balance, bans, Elo, or anything wider than just the match page.
Can commendations be abused, like traded, farmed, or spammed?
Today, players could exchange commendations, similarly to how people write trade-trusted notes on each other’s Steam profiles. However, there is nothing to gain by doing so, and we are monitoring this before expanding the system further.
