What is Veteran Matching?

What is the updated version of Veteran matching?

The Veteran Matching feature applies across all match types.

In Standard Match and Super Match queues, eligible subscribers can manually activate the Veteran toggle before entering the queue. In Premium Match, the toggle does not display because Veteran status is an automated entry requirement for the mode.

When Veteran Matching is active, the matchmaker restricts your lobby to players who have reached a specific match-count threshold on FACEIT. This requirement restricts the matchmaking pool to accounts with comparable match volume on the platform.

Who has access to Veteran Matching?

Subscribed players who have reached the match threshold can activate Veteran-Only matching or enter the Premium Match queue. Subscribers can use the interface toggle to restrict their matching conditions. Non-subscribed players who meet the match thresholds cannot activate the toggle, but they remain eligible to be placed into Standard Match or Super Match lobbies when the matchmaker builds a Veteran match.

What are the thresholds for Veteran status?

This table outlines the minimum match totals required to reach Veteran status across each skill level:

Note: On release, all regions utilize identical match volume requirements to reach Veteran status. These values are subject to future adjustments based on regional queue duration telemetry and platform data.

What is Veteran Only Matching?

Veteran Only is a feature available to subscribers across all match types. When an eligible subscriber or party activates this setting, the matchmaker uses a two-part sorting logic:

  • The Hard Floor: The system requires all players in the lobby to possess verified Veteran status. This rule is absolute. The matchmaker will not place a non-Veteran account into the match.

  • The Prioritization: After enforcing the floor requirement, the algorithm prioritizes matching your lobby against other Veterans with a similar total match count. This search calculation utilizes the player with the lowest match count in your party as its baseline.

This sorting priority depends on live queue volume. It functions as a algorithmic priority rather than a hard constraint.

  • Example 1: An account has 2,000 completed matches at Level 10. The matchmaker scans the active queue to pair the account with other Level 10 players who also possess thousands of completed matches.

  • Example 2: An account has 2,000 completed matches at Level 3. The matchmaker searches for other Level 3 Veterans with a similar match history. If active queue volume is low, the algorithm expands its search parameters to match the account against Level 3 Veterans who have hundreds of completed matches.

Who can activate Veteran Only matching?

To activate this feature, your party must fulfill two conditions:

  1. Every account in the party must meet the minimum Veteran match threshold for their respective skill level.

  2. The user activating the queue must hold an active subscription to access the toggle inside Standard Match and Super Match, or the party must enter the Premium Match queue where the requirement is mandatory.

How do I activate Veteran Only matching?

The Veteran Only and Verified Only settings are positioned directly on the Standard Match and Super Match selection cards. If you hold a subscription and your entire party holds Veteran status, you can activate the toggle for either mode before entering the queue.

How does my party qualify for a Veteran Match?

For a party to register as a Veteran party, every individual member must meet the minimum match threshold assigned to their current Skill Level.

For example, if a Level 8 player requires 200 matches and a Level 6 player requires 125 matches, the party cannot access the Veteran queue until both players independently reach their respective targets. Once both thresholds are met, the party can enter the Standard Match queue with the Veteran toggle active, opt into a Super Match with Veteran Only enabled, or enter a Premium Match.

Can free players be placed into Veteran Only matches?

Yes. Non-subscribed players can enter Veteran Only matches. Free players cannot activate the Veteran Only toggle themselves, but any non-subscribed account that has reached the required match threshold remains inside the eligibility pool. The matchmaker can place them into a Veteran Only lobby as a teammate or opponent to complete a match built for a Veteran party.

What do 'Veteran Required' and 'Verified Required' mean for Premium Match?

Premium Match requires accounts to hold Veteran status, Verified status, and an active subscription simultaneously. Accounts that fail to meet all three criteria are ineligible to enter the Premium Match queue. Super Match and Standard Match queues remain accessible, allowing players to utilize individual Veteran Only or Verified Only toggles to manage their matchmaking parameters.

Can I deactivate Veteran Matching?

When queuing for a Super Match or a Standard Match, the following rules apply:

  • Subscribers: You can choose to leave the Veteran-Only interface toggle disabled.

  • Non-subscribers: You do not have access to the interface toggle. If your account meets the match volume thresholds, the matchmaker retains the ability to place your account into Veteran Standard Match or Super Match lobbies based on active queue requirements.
