What is “Round Swing” on FACEIT?
Round Swing is how we measure whether your actions actually helped win the round, not just as kills on the scoreboard.
In Counter-Strike, not all kills carry the same weight. A frag in a 5v2 with the bomb down tells a very different story to a frag in a 2v2, and the match is decided in those differences. Round Swing helps reflect that reality more visibly.
How Round Swing works
At any moment in a round, your team has a certain chance of winning based on the situation, e.g. players alive, economy, bomb state, and map.
When any action happens, that probability changes. Round Swing looks at those changes and measures how much you moved your team’s round towards a win.
A kill that shifts a 2v2 into a 2v1 meaningfully improves your chances, so it carries a strong Round Swing. A kill in a round that is already effectively won adds very little. Winning a clutch can flip the outcome entirely, so it carries a high impact.
What is taken into account
Round Swing is not just about who does the final damage. It reflects how the outcome was created.
It considers your share of damage, any utility like flash assists, interactions with the bomb, and whether a kill was traded. It also accounts for the broader context of the round, including the economy on both sides, so that winning difficult fights is valued more than cleaning up eco rounds.
Why this matters for FACEIT Rating
FACEIT Rating is designed to reflect real impact on the match, not just kills.
Round Swing helps ensure that:
- Low-impact kills, such as farming eco rounds, carry less weight
- High-pressure moments, like clutches or key trades, are properly recognised
- Supportive contributions that lead to a win are included, not ignored
Round Swing is then normalised over the entire game to calculate FACEIT Rating to make it easier to understand and compare.
Why your stats and Round Swing may differ
Two players can finish a match with similar kills and damage, but very different impact.
One may be involved in the moments that decide rounds, while the other contributes in situations where the outcome is already likely. Round Swing separates those two cases.
Does Round Swing affect Elo?
No. Round Swing is used within FACEIT Rating to reflect performance. It does not change your matchmaking or Elo.
