Enabling virtualization (Intel VT-x/AMD SVM)

If you have an error message asking you to enable Intel VT-x/AMD SVM when starting the Anti-cheat, you will need to enable it in your BIOS.

We've published the final rollout schedule with more details about why we are requiring this in order to improve protection against cheats across matchmaking and official matches on FACEIT.

🖥️ Identify Your CPU and Motherboard Brand

You can find this information using the System Information tool (msinfo32):

  1. Press the Windows key.
  2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  3. Look for Processor and BaseBoard Manufacturer/Model.

🔧 BIOS Settings Overview

BIOS settings vary by motherboard model. It is recommended to search online for:

“How to enable virtualization on [your motherboard model]”

or visit your motherboard manufacturer’s website for specific instructions.

ASUS Motherboards

  • Entering BIOS: Press Delete or F2 during startup.
  • Navigation:
    • If you enter "EZ Mode," press F7 to switch to "Advanced Mode."
    • Go to the "Advanced" tab.
    • Select "CPU Configuration."
  • Setting:
    • For Intel CPUs: Find "Intel(VMX) Virtualization Technology" and set it to [Enabled].
    • For AMD CPUs: Find "SVM Mode" and set it to [Enabled].
  • Save & Exit: Press F10 and confirm.

Gigabyte Motherboards

  • Entering BIOS: Press Delete during startup.
  • Navigation:
    • For Intel CPUs: Go to the "BIOS Features" tab or "Chipset" tab.
    • For AMD CPUs: Go to the "M.I.T." tab, then "Advanced Frequency Settings", then "Advanced CPU Core Settings."
  • Setting:
    • For Intel CPUs: Look for "Intel Virtualization Technology," "Intel VT," or "VT-d" and set it to [Enabled].
    • For AMD CPUs: Look for "SVM Mode" and set it to [Enabled].
  • Save & Exit: Press F10 and confirm.

MSI Motherboards

  • Entering BIOS: Press Delete during startup.
  • Navigation:
    • Look for the "OC" (Overclocking) tab or "Advanced" tab.
    • Go to "CPU Features" or "CPU Configuration" (within OC/Advanced).
  • Setting:
    • For Intel CPUs: Find "Intel Virtualization Tech" or "Intel VT-d" (for IOMMU) and set it to [Enabled].
    • For AMD CPUs: Find "SVM Mode" and set it to [Enabled].
  • Save & Exit: Press F10 and confirm. (Note: On some MSI notebooks, AMD Virtualization might be enabled by default and not customizable.)

ASRock Motherboards

  • Entering BIOS: Press Delete or F2 during startup.
  • Navigation:
    • Go to the "Advanced" tab.
    • Select "CPU Configuration."
  • Setting:
    • For Intel CPUs: Find "Intel Virtualization Technology" and set it to [Enabled].
    • For AMD CPUs: Look for "SVM Mode" or "AMD-V" and set it to [Enabled].
  • Save & Exit: Press F10 and confirm.
