Elo Calculation Issues

System Rules for Elo Adjustments

This guide outlines the mathematical rules and penalties that modify Elo calculations outside the baseline match distribution.

Leaver Penalties and Match Abandonment

What is the leaver penalty?

The leaver penalty is a system modifier applied to players who disconnect from a server for a cumulative total of more than 5 minutes during a match. When an account is marked as a leaver:

  • The match record is hidden from your public match history page.

  • The match does not accumulate progress toward seasonal ladders or platform missions.

  • Elo points are still added or subtracted at the conclusion of the match, subject to the modifiers detailed below.

Why did I lose double Elo after a match?

If you are marked as a leaver and your team loses the match, the system deducts twice the standard Elo value calculated for that lobby.

Why did I receive half the expected Elo from a win?

If you are marked as a leaver and your team wins the match, you receive 50% of the calculated Elo gain for that lobby. This reduction applies even if you reconnect to the server and complete the match. This mathematical modifier cannot be manually adjusted or reverted.

Why does my match history show a negative Elo change after a win?

Because matches with a leaver penalty are hidden from your public match history, third-party profile extensions cannot process the independent log. When you complete your next standard match, the platform data feed pushes the combined Elo calculation from both matches simultaneously. If the hidden match incurred a double Elo penalty, the merged update can display a net negative balance change.

Why did my Elo loss remain standard when my teammate abandoned?

Elo loss reductions do not apply to players who queued inside a pre-made party or a 5-stack with the individual who abandoned the match. If a member of your party is marked as a leaver, all party members receive the full standard Elo deduction upon a loss.

Ban Reversions and Integrity Enforcement

A player I reported was banned. Why did I not receive an Elo adjustment?

Elo balances are reverted following an enforcement ban only when all of the following technical conditions are fulfilled:

  • The account is permanently banned specifically for cheating, ban evasion, or smurfing.

  • The match occurred within the last 100 matches completed by the banned account.

  • The match was played within the past 3 months.

Bans issued for verbal abuse, unsportsmanlike conduct, ghosting, or minor platform infractions do not trigger an Elo reversion. Accounts banned under the category Playing on a smurf indicate an active main profile, meaning the matches played on that account remain valid and do not trigger deductions or returns for prior opponents.

Why did my account lose Elo after a player I queued with was banned?

If you queue in a party with an individual who is subsequently banned for cheating, smurfing, or ban evasion, all Elo points gained from matches completed alongside that player are stripped from your account balance. This adjustment applies to all eligible matches within the 100-match and 3-month system lookback window. Reverted Elo points are not restored unless the underlying infraction ban is overturned on appeal.

Alternative Balance Deviations

Why was my Elo adjustment different from the standard baseline?

Match outcomes do not yield a fixed +/-25 Elo change (or a fixed +/-30 Elo change for Premium Matches). The exact calculation alters dynamically based on the following platform variables:

  • Match Balance: The mathematical win probability calculated from the total Elo delta between both teams at the launch of the lobby.

  • Party Disparity: Internal balancing weights applied when pre-made parties feature a wide skill distribution between teammates.

All Elo adjustments are calculated automatically by the matchmaking database based on these telemetry points. Calculated adjustments are final and cannot be disputed.
