Setting Up a Leaderboard in Clubs
Leaderboards are a great way to keep users engaged and reward players for grinding in your club. Create leaderboards for regular seasons or even special events!
1. Creating a leaderboard
To create a leaderboard, navigate to the club settings from the sidebar of your Clubs page. From here, you can access all the leaderboard settings via the leaderboard tab.
Click on 'Create New Leaderboard' to create your first 'All-Time Leaderboard'. This is a default leaderboard that cannot be deleted.
Once your all-time leaderboard is created, you can now create your first custom leaderboard. Simply select the correct queue you want to create a leaderboard for, and then hit the '+Create' button to open a new blank leaderboard.
Note: Leaderboards for 'Parties' will only count players playing in a 5-stack.
2. Leaderboard Settings
Once your new leaderboard has been opened, you will be able to edit its settings.
Keep in mind:
- Leaderboard settings are not automatically saved. You must click the 'Create Leaderboard/Save Changes' button at the bottom of the page to save a leaderboard's settings.
- Once a leaderboard start time has passed, you will no longer be able to edit the leaderboard settings without the help of a FACEIT Admin.
a. Leaderboard Types:
There are 2 types of leaderboards:
- 'Season' leaderboards are more suited for repeat leaderboards. You can only have one ongoing Season leaderboard at a time.
- 'Event' leaderboards are best for one-off events.
Note: You can only have 1 season leaderboard active at a time. You can run multiple event leaderboards at a time or an event leaderboard alongside a season leaderboard but never more than 1 season leaderboard at a time. If a season leaderboard and event leaderboard are running simultaneously, the leaderboard which finishes first will be prioritised.
b. Leaderboard Durations
This can be set for any period. However, monthly or bi-weekly leaderboards are recommended.
- Reminder: Once a leaderboard starts it cannot be edited anymore. As such, it is good practice to set a leaderboard to start farther in the future so you have time to change the leaderboard settings, including the leaderboard start time.
c. Point System
Ranking Type: This should always be Solo.
There are 2 different point systems:
- Flat: This is the default. This means players always earn the same amount of points set for wins/losses regardless of their ranking on the leaderboard.
- Ranking: This is a more complex ranking system that takes into account the current rank of the player in the leaderboard.
Ranking Bonus/Malus: Additionally to the points per win and loss, the ranking bonus/malus gives an additional number of points to players based on their current rank in the leaderboard. The lower the ranking, the larger the points won and the smaller the points lost.
Starting Points: The default is 1000. Set this to 0 if you do not want players to be able to drop below their starting points count.
Points per win/loss: This determines how many points are won/loss per match by default. For more competitive leaderboards, set the win/loss difference lower i.e. +5/-4. For activity-based leaderboards, set the difference higher or remove the loss altogether i.e. +5/-0. +5/-3 is the recommended setting for a balanced leaderboard. Note: The amount of points per win/loss may change if 'party elo difference' or 'ranking' system is enabled.
Party Elo difference penalty: If enabled, this setting applies a points penalty to parties with a high ELO difference. They will lose more points per loss and win less points per win. This can be used to punish players who attempt to queue with lower levels to gain a competitive advantage, but may dissuade friends from playing together in your Club.
d. Win Streak Bonus
This allows players to earn extra leaderboard points on match win streaks.
- Simply select the number of matches required for a win streak and the amount of bonus points that will be added for every subsequent match.
Note: The win streak bonus will only apply to the first following match, so if you select '3+ matches' as the minimum win streak, the bonus will only be applied on the 4th win.
e. Tiebreakers
Rank tiebreakers to prioritise player wins in case of a tie. Currently, tiebreakers can be determined by wins or by most played matches.
- If no tiebreaker is selected, the player on top of the leaderboard will win the prize by default.
f. Requirements
You can set requirements that will affect which users can participate in any given leaderboard.
- Minimum Ranked Matches Played: This determines how many ranked matches a player needs in order to participate in the leaderboard. This can be used to cut down on potential leaderboard abuses by new accounts but can also restrict newer players from accessing your club features.
- Include Party: If enabled, all members of the parties will need to have the minimum amount of ranked matches or none of the players will receive points for their match.
- ID Verification: This can be enabled only once a leaderboard has been created. If enabled, only players with ID verified account (silver checkmark) will be able to participate in the leaderboard.
- Subscription-Only: This can be enabled for organizers with a subscription attached to their Organizer page. Only users with the subscription role will be able to participate.
g. Prize Pool
The prize pool can be added in the last dropdown of the settings.
- Each prize can be set for a custom range i.e. Rank 1-5 on the leaderboard. If there is an overlap on ranges it will produce an error. Click 'add prize' to create a new custom range for a different prize.
- There are two types of prizes:
- FACEIT Points: These can be purchased via the organizer page.
- Custom Prizes: These are images in dimensions (400x120px) that can be added to leaderboards. The distribution of such prizes is entirely under the responsibility of the organizer.
Note: Custom Prizes are only enabled for verified organizers. For information on becoming a verified check the following article.
- You can keep track of how many FACEIT Points you are currently distributing via the bottom.
For new Organizers, we recommend giving prizes to a larger scale (top 10-20) and scale it so the top players get the most points.
h. Leaderboard Header
You can only add a leaderboard header once a leaderboard has been created. Make sure to use an image with aspect ratio 4:1 and a size of less than 500kb.
3. Deleting a leaderboard
You can delete any leaderboard before its start time.
- If you need help deleting a leaderboard that has already started, you can contact our admins via our Creators Discord.
