Steam Sign In BETA Guide

Some players will now have the option to sign into their FACEIT account via Steam. This feature is slowly being rolled out, and we hope to have this available to everyone soon. 

This guide will cover how to sign into your FACEIT account via Steam, and any errors that you may encounter.

This feature will be enabled by default, if you want to find out how to disable this please check out this guide.

Please note: We will only ever ask you to sign in using Steam to sites starting in www.faceit.com 

The sign in process

To log in via Steam please make sure that you are signed out of FACEIT and go to this link

Once clicked, this will take you to Steam, where you can sign into your Steam account. If you have not signed into Steam on your browser before you may need to complete the full sign-in process, otherwise you can just click ‘Sign in’

You will then be taken to the Steam OAuth page where you will have to accept the permissions for FACEIT to view your Steam details

Clicking on ‘Allow’ will take you back to FACEIT

Once this is done you will then be required to change your password. To do this you can click on ‘No longer have access to this email address’. 

You will then be asked to enter a new email address to use on your account. Once you have entered your email, click on 'Send Reset Link', and you will receive an email to that email address with a link to change your password. 

Once you click on the link you will be taken to a page to change your password.

Once this is done, you can log in as normal, unless you have 2FA active on your account. If this is the case you will be prompted to enter your 2FA code before being signed in.

Can I disable this feature?

Yes, you can turn off Steam Sign in here: https://www.faceit.com/en/settings/integrations

Under “Game Platforms” you will see an option to Turn off “Login with Steam” under your Steam account.

Common Errors

Steam Login Disabled

If you have disabled “Steam Login” from your account, you will see the following error message:

You will not be able to sign in using Steam until you log into your account and enable this feature in your account settings.

No FACEIT Account linked

If you try to log in using a Steam account that is not connected to any FACEIT account, the following error message will be displayed. You won’t be able to sign-in using that Steam account.

Multiple FACEIT Accounts linked

There are certain legacy reasons why a user may have multiple FACEIT accounts linked to one Steam account. If this is the case, the following message will be displayed.

You won’t be able to sign in via Steam if this is the case, you will need to contact support to recover your account.

Authorisation Denied

If you clicked on the “Deny” button during the Steam OAuth you will see the following screen.

If you still want to sign in via Steam, you can repeat the process, making sure to accept the requested permissions.

No user found with password code

This is caused by starting the process in one browser and then trying to log in in another, please make sure to go through the whole recovery process in the same browser.
