Single-Elimination tournament format
What’s a Single-elimination tournament format?
Single-Elimination is the most popular elimination format for most tournaments around the world due to its simplicity. If a team loses one match, the team is immediately eliminated from the tournament. This goes on until a winning team has been determined.
Double-Elimination tournament format
What’s a Double-Elimination tournament format?
Double-elimination is an elimination tournament type in which teams or players can only lose the tournament if they lose two matches, unlike in Single-Elimination, where a team is eliminated upon losing a single matchup. The tournament is divided into three brackets.
1. Winners bracket
The tournament begins with all teams being seeded in the Winners' bracket for Round 1 matchups. The Winners' bracket ends with a Winner's bracket final, which determines the team that will advance straight to the third bracket - the Grand Finals - without the need to be in the Losers' bracket.
2. Losers bracket
Once a team loses a match in the Winners bracket, it advances to the Losers bracket, where the teams battle their way through it until the losers bracket final, which determines the team advancing to the third bracket - the Grand Finals.
3. Grand Finals
Once both teams have been determined from the Winners and Losers brackets, the teams play the Grand Final stage of the tournament. The organizer can enable or disable double-finals on the Game configuration page under the tournament’s settings.

How do the Double-finals work?
A Double-elimination Grand Finals often has a Double-finals option. If the team advancing from the Losers bracket wins the undefeated Winners bracket team, the Grand Final series will be reset and played again in another Matchroom.
Can I customize the tournament seeding (creating specific matchups)?
Yes! Read more about seeding the tournaments here
Please note that teams cannot be placed into the lower bracket through seeding.
Can I enable third/fifth place decider matches under the same tournament?
Unfortunately, that is not possible at this time.
However, you can create another tournament page and invite the teams to it to run the third/fifth-place decider matches.
Here’s how you can invite teams to individual tournaments: Inviting teams
