A conference is a subgroup (i.e., East, Central, West) of teams within a group (e.g., ESEA Open) based on players' locations to facilitate better playing conditions (e.g., easier scheduling and server selection).
While most groups do not have multiple conferences (i.e., they have only a central conference), groups like ESEA Open in North America can be split into 3 conferences to set more accurate and fair default match times and server locations in the regular season.
Teams from each conference can advance from the regular season to the playoffs, where they will compete against the teams from all conferences in their division.
