Regional Matching FAQ

WHAT IS REGIONAL MATCHING?

With Regional Matching, we're splitting regions into different regional subgroups and prioritising teaming you up with players from your nearby geographic region.

For example, we are breaking down the EU region into three sub-regions based on common languages such as English, Russian and more.

This boosts the odds of having teammates who speak the same language, making communication easier.

WHY ISN’T THERE A LANGUAGE FILTER FEATURE AVAILABLE FOR MATCHMAKING?

Tackling this issue is tricky because of the variety of languages involved. That's why we're developing features that deliver similar results but are easier to put into action.

ARE THERE PLANS FOR ADDITIONAL STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN THE FUTURE?

Absolutely! We're working to make these features even better, taking into account your feedback and the latest in technology. Our goal is to keep coming up with new and cool ways to enhance your experience and bring more benefits to your matchups on FACEIT.

WHY ARE THERE PLAYERS FROM DISTANT COUNTRIES IN MY GAME?

While our test focuses on prioritizing teaming up players from nearby regional subgroups, the opposing team might come from a different one.

For example, while queuing in the EU, it doesn't mean you will encounter players from NA. However, it might indicate that the opposing team is located in a different region subgroup of Europe compared to your team.

After joining the queue and waiting several minutes,  the matchmaking system may broaden its search across regions, potentially leading to connections with players located a bit further away.
