OW2 FPL-C Overview

On top of our exciting Ranked PUGs Closed Beta announcement, we’re stoked to share that today we’re going live with FPL, a private 5v5 solo queue where EMEA and NA top players and rising stars compete for $20,000 monthly prize pool, network and stream all-star content. To form the initial pool of players, we’ve directly invited FACEIT League Master players ranked 5 - 16 in EMEA and NA, the top four (4) FACEIT League Expert players, along with former top players and content creators.

For anyone in the competitive community who wants to get noticed by esports organisations, to play against the best and is a future star, FPL Challenger is the place to grind for and you will be able to qualify by grinding Elo in the Ranked PUGs. Starting at the end of the Ranked PUGs closed beta, every 2 weeks, top players from Ranked PUGs with the highest Elo will have an opportunity to qualify for FPL Challenger and prove their worth to play against the best.

We’ve built a clear open qualification path to FPL Challenger that is easy to understand and which has been battle-tested successfully in other games. What you’ll need to do:

  1. Grind FACEIT Elo in Ranked PUGs to reach the top of the Elo Rankings. We have a numerical Elo system where your Elo goes up or down after every match depending if you have won or not
  2. Every 2 weeks, therefore twice a month, the top 3 players from Elo rankings will receive a two-week trial period in FPL Challenger, ensuring that we continually promote top talent from Ranked PUGs to have a shot at proving their worth against the world’s best.
  3. The top player in each role on the FPL Challenger leaderboard in their respective regions will receive a two-week trial period in FPL, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their talent, and only the most talented players will receive a permanent invitation.

Why FPL-C?

FPL-C helps tackle two familiar problems present in almost every competitive game title: up and coming players want a more high-skilled environment, while new talents struggle to get the spotlight and get discovered by esports organisations. Two different problems, one solution. FPL-C fosters an environment that solves these problems while unlocking tremendous value for the players through three core mechanics:

  1. Training and rewards: FPL-C is a unique training ground where current up and coming players as well as new talents can train, improve, and perfect their skills. Every match is highly competitive and counts toward the bi-weekly leaderboard, which offers a financial reward for the best performers, as well as promotion to FPL.
  1. Community and networking: As a closed community of players, FPL-C enables up and coming players and new talents to have many interactions every single day.
  2. Your first step to reach the top level: FPL Challenger is a proving ground for players to prepare themselves to play against the best. In other games where we have operated, FPL-C grew into a strong community and network of players, which saw many of today’s stars get their first opportunities.

How does FPL-C work?

In FPL-C, players will utilize the FPL Club to queue for matches. Once ten eligible players have joined the queue and all roles are filled, two captains will take turns drafting their team members (this is where the excitement begins and rivalries spark!).

Then, players will connect to their matches through the seamless FACEIT integration. Each match will directly impact the weekly leaderboard, driving players to perform at their best. The more points a player earns, the closer they get to securing the bi-weekly cash prize available in each region.

Points System and Rewards:
