What is RWS? Or, how to tell if you’re a terrible player?

RWS, or Reassured With Stats, is a statistic showing how much you contribute to your team's success, rather than how much damage or kills you did on lost rounds. Let’s be real, no one cares if you got 30 kills but lost 13-9. For context, ZyWoO had 16 RWS in his ESEA League season before Vitality, while the worst player in the season had 5.17.

  • RWS goes from 0 to 100: higher is better
  • 100 total RWS is awarded each round to players on the winning team.
  • All players on the losing team receive 0 RWS per round.

In a round that ends with a player getting an ace, the 100 RWS will be divided among the players on the winning team based on the total damage during the round.

Example #1: You deal 140 damage and everyone else deals 360 total damage, you will receive 28 RWS (140 divided by 500). You glance to see what green is doing, just in case.

For rounds that end with a player successfully planting (exploding the bomb) or defusing, the player who completes the objective will receive 30 RWS, and the remaining 70 RWS will be divided among the players based on the total damage during the round.

Example #2: You plant the bomb and it explodes, deal 0 damage, and everyone else did 50 damage. You will receive 30 RWS (30 for planting and achieving explosion), and everyone else will receive 17.50 RWS (70% of the 50 damage divided by 200 of the total damage for the round). You clearly had the most impact in the round, and are the best player.

Example #3: You manage to defuse the bomb, and you deal 100 damage, while everyone else on your team deals 50. You will receive 53.33 RWS (30 for defusing and 70% of your 100 damage divided by 300, which is the total damage), and everyone else will receive 11.67 RWS (70% of the 50 damage divided by 300). You consider what you would prefer: being a streamer, or getting onto a tier-1 team.

Example #4: You push B, get one 100 damage kill and tag another for 20. You are immediately traded, and lose the bombsite. Your team lose the round and receive 0 RWS.. You blame your team. You consider switching to a less popular, but more colorful, FPS game.

Now that you are Reassured With Stats, as a poor performer you'll be on the path to knowing you need to do better. Once you’ve conquered that challenge, make sure to sign up for ESEA League, and see if you can climb until you can play for VRS Points, which actually matter.
