OW2 FPL Overview

On top of our exciting Ranked PUGs Closed Beta announcement, we’re stoked to share that today we’re going live with FPL, a private 5v5 solo queue where EMEA and NA top players and rising stars compete for $20,000 monthly prize pool, network and stream all-star content.

To form the initial pool of players, we’ve directly invited all OWCS and FACEIT League Master players in EMEA and NA, along with some former top players and creators. In this inaugural season, there will be 170 NA players playing in the FPL NA queue, and 161 EMEA players playing in the FPL EMEA queue.

For anyone in the competitive community who wants to get noticed by esports organisations, to play against the best and is a future star, FPL is the place to grind for and you will be able to qualify by grinding Elo in the Ranked PUGs. Starting at the end of the Ranked PUGs closed beta, every 2 weeks, top players from Ranked PUGs with the highest Elo will have an opportunity to qualify for the FPL and prove their worth against the best.

We’ve built a clear open qualification path to the FPL that is easy to understand and which has been battle-tested successfully in other games. What you’ll need to do:

  1. Apply to gain access to Ranked PUGs Closed Beta
  2. Successfully gain access and come to play during our Beta play sessions  (1st play session is on 6th March)
  3. Grind FACEIT Elo in Ranked PUGs to reach the top of the Elo Rankings. We have a numerical Elo system where your Elo goes up or down after every match depending if you have won or not
  4. At the end of the closed beta, we will invite the top 3 players on the Ranked PUGs rankings to FPL in their respective regions. These invited players will receive a two-week trial period in FPL, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their talent, and only the most talented players will receive their permanent invitation.
  5. Every 2 weeks after that, therefore twice a month, we’ll select these top 3 players again from Elo rankings, ensuring that we continually promote top talent from Ranked PUGs to have a shot at proving their worth against the world’s best.

Why FPL?

FPL helps tackle two familiar problems present in almost every competitive game title: Top players want a more high-skilled environment, while new talents struggle to get the spotlight and get discovered by esports organisations. Two different problems, one solution. FPL fosters an environment that solves these problems while unlocking tremendous value for the players through three core mechanics:

  1. Training and rewards: Only the most talented players have access to the FPL, making it a unique training ground where current top players and new talents can train, improve, and perfect their skills. Every match is highly competitive and counts toward the weekly leaderboards, which offer a hefty financial reward for the best performers, with a €20,000 cash prize up for grabs every month.
  1. Community and networking: As a closed community of players, FPL enables top players and new talents to have many interactions every single day. In other games where we operate, FPL grew into a strong community and network of players, which enables them to more easily create new rosters, find the next step in their career or join an esports organization for the first time.
  1. All-star matches and livestreams: All FPL games feel like an all-star match with some of the world's most talented players. Players are presented with a unique opportunity to live-stream entertaining and insightful content, showcasing how top players communicate and play the current meta at the highest possible level. Everybody wins, especially new talents who receive massive exposure in front of the community and are scouted by esports organizations.

How does FPL work?

In FPL, players will utilize the FPL Club to queue for matches. Once ten eligible players have joined the queue and all roles are filled, two captains will take turns drafting their team members (this is where the excitement begins and rivalries spark!).

Then, players will connect to their matches through the seamless FACEIT integration. Each match will directly impact the weekly leaderboard, driving players to perform at their best. The more points a player earns, the closer they get to securing the $2,500 weekly cash prize available in each region.

Points System and Rewards:

  • Players start each week with 0 points.
  • Queue will be available Monday to Sunday at 8:00 PM CET/ET
  • Monday - Friday: A win grants +7 points, while a loss deducts -4 points.
  • Saturday - Sunday: Wins are worth +9 points, and losses cost -5 points.
  • Win Streak Bonus: After achieving 4 consecutive wins, each subsequent victory awards an additional +3 points (+4 points on weekends).

The top 5 players on the weekly leaderboard will be awarded substantial cash prizes:

  • Top 1: $1,000
  • Top 2: $600
  • Top 3: $400
  • Top 4: $300
  • Top 5: $200
